Poetic Personas

Bram Stoker was obsessed with Walt Whitman when he created Dracula.
Whitmans' open sexuality and celebration of 'the deathlike quality of love' helped define the rich, compelling character and 'brand' of Dracula, and all subsequent properties. Throughout the book, Stoker corresponded with Whitman, continuing to define the passionate and perverse persona of the famous vampire.
I'm shocked at how little persona work we do as communicators, and how often they are one dimensional and lifeless. A great persona is an embodiment of a target, segment or ideal, it's generative and evocative. Get stoked on brilliant persona building. It will show.
