Running through the park yesterday, I was struck by the elegance of a windswept tree on a small knoll. It was clear that there used to be another tree on the hill, the absence of which now created a scene of pure elegance.
I was reminded of the book In Pursuit of Elegance; why the best ideas have something missing. In our additive culture, we have a lot to learn from the beauty of subtraction.
