Apparently, when the Magic Kingdom execs first saw Johnny Depp's creative take on Jack Sparrow, they were horrified. JD was reported to have told them "either trust me or give me the boot." They later admitted that the 'colorful' character was one of the key drivers behind the film's massive success.
